Editor's column of this issue is dedicated to the nobleman's word of honour.

Basing upon various resources, article of Vytautas Vyèas discloses fight for Lithuania's freedom and independence of 1830-1831, paying especial attention at the Hill of Massacre (Ukmerge district), including a photo of a monument for the killed rebels.

Story of Vytautas Jonas Rimgaila covers fate of the long voyage navigator (captain) Feliksas Rimkevièius, who devoted his years and courage to the seas and oceans, and Rimkevièius' family, being an old family of noblemen (c. Main character of the story is niece of the famous general Povilas Plechavièius, who returned to her motherland after half of a century and restored manor of her parents. This is an excellent example for everybody about what can be made within a couple of years on an open field. Not without reason her uncle general said "My character". There are also many unique historical facts.

Literature and art pages offer poems of Kornelijus Platelis, laureate of national premium. Heroes of prosaist Vladas Vyšniûnas legends are dukes and noblemen. It is not entirely literary fiction: the creations are based on folk legends and stories, transferred from generation to generation.
Exclusive merits of Pacas in the culture of Lithuanian Grand Principality (LDK) are summarized in Saulius Bytautas' article. Main attention is paid at foundation of Paþaislis abbey. The founder Kristupas Þygimantas Pacas (1621-1684), Grand Chancellor of LDK, one of the most famous and influential statesmen of the 17th century, came from one of the richest and aristocratic family of Lithuanian noblemen. His wife, countess Klara Izabelë Eugenija Genovaitë de Mailly Lascaris, also deserved much for Lithuania.

Jonas Algimantas Chmieliauskas's recollections cover the tragic for Lithuania 15 June 1940. Fate brought him to Kau¬nas on that day and he saw how the "liberators'" tanks were going along the streets.
